<DM> I gave you guys links to the last Battlemat condition as a reminder. <Erias> Map loaded and ready to go. <Vita> Thanks. <DM> Last time, a detente was reached. <DM> Everybody request a move to where you want to be. <DM> Or tell me what you're doing. * Fordran is feeling pretty good about his current position. <Vita> (I forget - are there any entrances/exits?) <DM> No visible entrances/exits. * Foster examines various statues. <DM> Remember, to disbelieve in an illusion, you have to interact with it. <DM> Foster: Search, or cursory examination? <Erias> I'm fine where I am. I'm mostly trying to figure out how to reach something that high. I will also say something when we unpause. * Grith examines his own statue for more of his worthless junk. <Foster> Hm, search. <DM> Erias: Unpaused already. <DM> Out of init as of last session. * Fordran is watching the ogre warily. <Erias> Wait -- let me check last session log. I forgot we ended combat. <DM> Grith, search. <Erias> ohhh yeah. <DM> Foster, where do you want to start, and roll a search. * Vita circles the arena with Pup, poking and proding at the walls around it <Grith> (oh, damn) <DM> You can take 20. <DM> It'll be 2 minutes though. <Foster> Let's start north. * Apol is looking around the room with the monocle, specifically for a way out, but also at the shinies. <Grith> (I think I shall!) <Foster> |roll d20+4 <tafal> 21 | [d20=17] [+4=4] <Grith> "Hey! If anyone sees any of my stuff on one of these things... I'd like it back!" * Fordran turns to the ogre. <DM> (How would they know what your stuff looks like?) <Fordran> "So, umm. My name is Fordran." * Vita especially looks where the lion bounded through the wall <Grith> (Do I look like a rocket scientist?) <DM> Ogre: "True name Fordran?" <Erias> "Were these statues once living? It seems inappropriate to dishonor the dead by looting them..." <Sam> yarrr. <Sam> (sorry i'm late) <DM> Welcome <Grith> "I don't think it's loot if it's myself. Oooh! Found it!" <Foster> "Given that one is a replica of our large associate here, I don't think they were living at any point." * Erias considers. <Fordran> "Y...yes. It's true... what other name would I have?" * Grith starts yanking items off the statue and attaching them to his person variously. <DM> (Sam, read backscroll, when you catch up, tell me what you're doing) <DM> The ogre nods at Fordran. <Apol> |roll d20+3 <tafal> 9 | [d20=6] [+3=3] <DM> Ogre: "True names have power." <Fordran> "Ah." <DM> He begins looking around the room as well. <Erias> "Ogre, are there any items here that will help you in the fight against our common foe?" <Sam> (scrolling back) <Fordran> "What should we call you, then?" * Erias turns and walks to a statue where no one else is searching. Ideally human-sized. * Vita continues to variously poke at the wall the lion went through and disbelieve in it, whichever seems to work better * Vita is still riding Pup <DM> The ogre pauses, thinking. This might take awhile. <DM> There are no human-sized statues. <Sam> (done scrolling) <DM> There are human-looking statues. <Erias> (does it still look like a dragon?) <Erias> Okay, I'll go to a human-looking statue. <DM> All of them would be gargantuan if they were creatures. * Foster is still searching the northmost statue, <Foster> (apparently) * Grith is currently wearing a haversack that looks... waaaaay too small for him. <DM> Erias: It still looks like a dragon, yes. * Grith grunts a little as he strains to put it on. Ends up just slinging it over one shoulder. Mutters irritably. * Apol moves towards the statue that looks like a human with a snake tail. * Erias will search when he can. Move has been requested. <DM> Ogre/Dragon: "Bonesmasher... no... bonecrusher... hmm..." <Fordran> "Bonecrusher sounds fine." <Grith> "Bonecracker" <Fordran> "Good sound to it." * Grith offers helpfully. <DM> "Yes. Bonecrusher." * Sam resumes his usual state of slight confusion. <Grith> "'I'll crack yer bones in half and suck out the marrow 'n all that...'" <Apol> "All of these have shines." *reaches for the jewelry on the statue* <Fordran> "So... Bonecrusher... what room is this? Where are we?" * Grith trails off as he looks around at the others. * Apol says something in draconic to the ogre. * Vita pouts at the walls <DM> The ogre/dragon doesn't appear to respond. <Vita> "Isn't there any way to get out of this place?" * Sam knocks on various walls, just to establish that they are at least vaguely what they seem. <Foster> "Hm. None of the gear on this statue is made of stone. It's all enormous, though." * Vita continues mucking with, pouting at, and swearing at the walls as she and Pup move around the room <DM> Erias? <Erias> "I've seen enchanted items that will grow or shrink to fit the wearer..." <DM> Private message. <Erias> [20:47] * Erias will search when he can. Move has been requested. <Erias> oh! <Erias> |roll d20 <tafal> 18 | [d20=18] <Grith> "I like enormous gear!" * Sam tosses a sling bullet against a wall, just to see how it bounces. <Foster> "Something tells me that the statue isn't getting much use of it." * Fordran looks around, as if noticing everyone looking at statues. <Fordran> "Must be some sort of trophy room." * Grith is busy trying to shrug his way into gear that's just not big enough for him. <Erias> "Yeah, the gear here is all real too. I don't think I can get it off, though." <Fordran> "When did you get here, Grith?" * Sam retrieves the bullet. * Grith half-turns towards Fordran, "Don't know. Can't remember recent events." <Erias> "Apol, is the stuff on these statues shiny?" <Grith> "It's all kinda fuzzy, with lotsa blanks." <DM> (Oh right, someone asked the ogre what this room is.) <Fordran> "Must have been long enough to have had a statue made out of you." <DM> Ogre: "Not remember this room. First time here." <Sam> (gah, sam doesn't know the general rules surrounding magic wom-woms) <Grith> "Yeah. And put all my gear on it as treasure... That's lookin' your gorgon in the eyes before you decapitate it!" <Grith> s/treasure/trophy <Apol> "Not all shiny" <Foster> "Hm. Apol, when you get a chance, come take a look at this statue, please." <Apol> "Some pieces are, like this one!" *holds up a feather necklace made of peacock feathers that would make a good headdress for the little dragon* <Apol> "Ok." *flies over to Foster and peers at the statue through the monocle* <Erias> |roll d20 <tafal> 1 | [d20=1] * Fordran looks around in wonder. <Fordran> (it shatters into a million pieces.) <Foster> |roll d20+5 <tafal> 9 | [d20=4] [+5=5] <Fordran> "So most of these things once belonged to creatures... captured by Grey?" <Apol> "The walls aren't shiny, so how do things come in if the walls aren't shiny?" <Apol> |roll d20+5 <tafal> 23 | [d20=18] [+5=5] <Apol> "Foster, that axe and the armcovers [bracers] are shiny." <Sam> "The ones who chase me can probably do strange transportation magic like this." <Fordran> "Maybe they're just simple doors." * Erias takes a swing with his mace at the leg of the statue he's looking at. <DM> Roll damage <Foster> "Think you could untie the bracers? I don't much feel like going climbing." <Apol> "Bob used to play around and turn the spiders in the tower to stone. So, Gray could be able to do the same thing." <Sam> "Though as I have not seen them for quite a while, and magic is rather foreign to me..." <Erias> |roll d8+1 <tafal> 8 | [d8=7] [+1=1] <DM> Erias, spot. <Erias> |roll d20+1 <tafal> 3 | [d20=2] [+1=1] <DM> The rest of you hear a small crack, and tinking sound as a piece of the statue's foot breaks off and bounces to the floor. <Grith> "Yeah... 'cept *oof* -I'm- not *grunt* stone... I'm flesh *oof*." <Erias> "Hmm." * Apol pulls at the cords on the bracers. * Vita squints are Erias and looks confused, but is too busy to say anything <Sam> "That's not going to fall, is it?" <Erias> "Uh... that's a good point." <Erias> "I was thinking that if the statues were easy to destroy, we could get the equipment off of them." <Erias> "But I feel bad breaking them." <Erias> |roll d20 <tafal> 14 | [d20=14] * Sam holds out one of his weird monk weapons. "You at least have the option of damaging the statues." * Erias studies the foot. "Hunh." * Apol yanks one last time and the bracers pop off. * Apol hands them over to Foster. * Foster examines the bracers. <Erias> "Anyone know much about stone? This looks odd." <Foster> "I guess I could take a look." <Fordran> "What's odd about it?" * Foster goes over to examine. * Apol flies over to Erias as well. <Vita> "Somehow I think my knowledge of plants will probably not help you out here." <Foster> |roll d20+4 <tafal> 10 | [d20=6] [+4=4] * Sam examines as well, visually comparing those bracers to his own. * Erias gestures at the broken part of the foot. <Sam> (woo! no ranks in any relevant skill!) <DM> The bracers are the size of a small vest. <DM> They're made of some leather, worn shiny, then powdered in dust <Foster> "Hm. This doesn't really look like stone. The layers look wrong." * Fordran moves over to Erias, looks. <Fordran> |roll d20+13 <tafal> 32 | [d20=19] [+13=13] <Apol> |roll d20+13 <tafal> 21 | [d20=8] [+13=13] * Grith finishes gearing up. Approaches the statue-gazers, "So, uh... is there a plan?" * Grith is still... bigger than he was. * Apol looks at what they are all doing. * Sam strolls back to the broken foot, and dares to feel it. <Erias> "Well, first we need a way out of this room." <Fordran> "Did... someone mention something about turning people into stone?" <Foster> |roll d20+5 <tafal> 16 | [d20=11] [+5=5] * Sam shrug.s <Fordran> "I think that might be a lot closer to the mark than we thought." <Grith> "I think these are something else. There's one of me, and I'm not stone..." <Apol> "There is a spell that can do that... turn things into stone. Great to get rid of bugs." * Erias looks at the place he broke off part of the foot and winces. <Grith> *mutters* "Stone-giant, maybe..." <Fordran> "I think this poor fellow must have been bugging Grey." <Erias> "And we're not?" <Fordran> "Apparently not enough." <Apol> "Why aren't the clothes turned to stone?" <Erias> "Alright. Has anyone found any part of these walls that isn't solid?" <Foster> "If it's a spell, you can probably dispel it." <Fordran> "That's a good question Apol. Wait. What did you say, Grith?" <Apol> (Anyone want Apol to look at magic stuff, speak up) <Vita> "I've been all the way around and I really haven't found a thing... except that the walls don't *FEEL* right" <Sam> "The walls feel solid, but..." <Grith> "Um..." <Vita> "I don't think they are stone." <Grith> "I think these are something else. There's one of me, and I'm not stone..." <Fordran> "Did you say 'stone giant'? What's a 'stone giant'?" <Vita> "So you noticed it too, Sam?" <Sam> "They bounce more than stone." * Foster goes over to examine the Grith statue, breaking off a piece if necessary. <Erias> "Well, we've seen lookalikes before..." * Sam demonstrates with a sling bullet again. <Grith> "Stone-giant?" <Vita> "They aren't cold, either." <Vita> "Stone tends to be cold." * Grith gives Fordran a confused look. * Erias wrinkes his forehead for a minute. * Vita disbelieves in the stone look to the wall <Grith> "I dunno. Just some kind of giant I've heard of..." * Vita wrinkles her brow <Foster> "Hm. This statue has the same odd patterning." * Fordran walks over to Foster and the Grith statue. <Fordran> "How so?" * Erias turns and charges the nearest wall. <Foster> "The stone used in this one has the same weird striations as the stone used in the one Erias damaged." <Grith> (Just don't be breaking off anything int he crotch region, mmkay?) <DM> Erias rebounds slightly. * Erias regains his balance. <Erias> "Odd." <Vita> "Strange, isn't it?" * Apol looks at the other statue. "It looks like stone meat." <DM> I'll mention it again in case it was lost in scroll <Fordran> "Odd. They just look so much like muscle, but stony." <Erias> "Okay, so the room and the statues both seem to be made of something that seems halfway between stone and flesh." <DM> <Foster> "If it's a spell, you can probably dispel it." * Vita walks over to the statue <Vita> (of Grith) <Erias> "I can't dispel anything." <Fordran> "...But I can." <Grith> "Hey! What're you doin' to me over there?" * Vita stares at it, and at him <Foster> "Examining your mineral composition." <Fordran> "Which one should I dispel?" <Vita> "Even if these were people, does Grith have a twin or something?" * Apol flies to another statue and looks at the jewelry. <Vita> "A VERY close twin?" <Foster> "We should, ah, probably hold off on dispelling the damaged one. Pick the least threatening." * Fordran looks around. <Erias> "Good idea.' <Vita> "Um, they are all HUGE" <Foster> "Maybe we should divest it of equipment first,as well." <DM> The Grith statue has been fully divested. <DM> (And is missing part of a boot) <Erias> "Well, keep in mind that if it's friendly, it may be less so once it realizes we've taken it's items." <Fordran> "Maybe we should find out who Grith's twin here is." <Foster> "If it's friendly, it can probably be reasoned with sufficiently to explain the situation." <Grith> "My mineral whatsit?" <Vita> "I don't know if that's a good idea. I mean, it even has his SCAR" * Vita points * Grith walks vaguely around the room, look for loot that's approximately his size. <Vita> (rather, Vita points at the scar on the statue's chin) * Apol finds a coin purse and bursts out, "OOh! Coins." * Foster stows the enormous bracers fornow. <Fordran> "Hm." <Erias> "Hunh." <Grith> (looking, rather) <Erias> "Well, pick one. It's going to be awkward regardless." <Vita> "Could you try and dispel whatever is making the walls funny instead? I don't know if we need more large things lumbering around." <Fordran> "Apol, do the statues themselves glow? Or just some of the things they're carrying?" * Vita looks unhappy about the idea of more large things <Foster> "Probably a better idea, Vita." <Foster> "These statues are weird, but I'm not sure they're people." * Apol stops pilfering for a second to answer, "Just the items." <Apol> "The statues are just stone." <Fordran> "Hm. And the walls don't glow either. I'm not sure what magic I would be dispelling." <Erias> "They don't seem to have evil intent, in any case. But I don't know how much I can really tell about them, when they're like this." * Sam looks slightly reassured, maybe. <Vita> "Hrm." <Erias> "Maybe they're just magically created to be just like existing creatures." <Vita> "So that means that Gray has all these other... people... at his disposal?" * Apol is happily putting coins in the little haversack and eyeing the ogre-dragon and hissing quietly in his direction. <DM> The disembodied voice of Gray speaks up again. "Indecision... Passivity. Interesting." <Erias> "If you're bored, you're welcome to join us." <Fordran> "I see we've bored Grey back into attention." <DM> Two sections of wall, Northwest and Southeast dissolve to show blank white corridor. * Erias shrugs. <Erias> "Let's go, then." <Fordran> "Ah, a choice." <Foster> "May as well." <Vita> "I don't like the idea of being led places" <Foster> "We're obviously being herded through some stupid gauntlet as a "test" of our resolve or something." <Vita> "But I also don't like the idea of staying here." * Sam semi-not-randomly creeps carefully southeast. <Vita> "I don't get this at all!" <Apol> "Wait, how do we get back here?" <Vita> "Why does he care about our resolve?" <Apol> "What about those people in the other room?" <Foster> "Honestly, one way is as good any other at this point." <Grith> (are the new passages about the same size?) * Sam stops short of the actual corridor. <Fordran> "Which people?" <DM> Equal size. <Foster> "The civilians." <Fordran> "They'll be safe for now. Pelor will protect them." * Erias walks toward the southeast corridor. <Apol> "The little girl and the big fat smelling human.." * Sam carefully reaches a hand through, just to make sure it's not just a funny picture on a wall. <Erias> "We can't get back to them now anyway, unless we're herded that direction." <Foster> "I'm not sure that we can even get back to the other room at this point, in any case." <DM> Sam's hand does not encounter resistance. * Vita follows behind other people if they leave <Fordran> "Let's move on." * Erias waits for the others to get here, and tries to leave with everyone at once. <Sam> "It seems to be a real live exit, for what it's worth." * Sam reconsiders "real" and "live." <Foster> "We may as well take it, then." * Sam boldly steps into the southeast passage. * Apol finishes stuffing the little haversack with loot and flies up to Erias. * Vita makes sure that she has her bow at the ready and rides on Pup behind the others <Sam> (brb, tea kettle) * Apol lands on Erias' helmet and faces the ogre-dragon. <DM> The corridor has a square cross-section, about 15' on a side. <DM> It's blank white, with no distinguishing features. * Fordran makes sure that Bonecrusher is following along. * Erias checks to make sure the ogre is fo --. <Erias> ...yeah. <DM> He's following along at a short distance. <Grith> (How much time has passed since the ogre-dragon first showed up?( <Grith> ) <DM> About 10 minutes. <Erias> (I need to know that too) * Grith has long since shrunk back to normal size. <DM> There's a in the floor up ahead. * Grith has also taken an opportunity to refit himself so everything is hanging off himself comfortably. Walks with his over-sized sword propped over one shoulder. <DM> gee, somehow the word was eaten. <Erias> a... what? * Grith will gladly walk between Bonecrusher and the party... <Sam> (back) * Vita will happily let Grith walk behind her and closer to Bonecrusher <DM> There's a gap in the floor up ahead, about 15' across, with something shimmery across it. * Foster examines the shimmery something. <Erias> "Lovely." <Fordran> "This looks safe." <DM> The gap looks very incongruous. <Grith> (The shimmery thing across it doesn't!) <Vita> "I disbelieve in the gap!" <DM> There's a diaphanous glow covering the gap. * Vita looks rather uncertain about her statement * Sam drops a sling bullet into the gap. * Apol looks quickly at what they are looking at then goes back to watching the ogre. <Grith> (Oh, sure, try to fool the dumb giant with pretty words like "diaphanous") <Sam> |roll d20+8 <tafal> 20 | [d20=12] [+8=8] * Foster goes over and prods the shimmery bits with his foot. <DM> The sling bullet lands on the glow without a sound, then, ever so slowly, drops through. <Fordran> "Huh." * Sam looks genuinely puzzled. <Grith> "Er... that's odd." <Foster> |roll d20+6 <tafal> 11 | [d20=5] [+6=6] <Vita> "That's... strange." <DM> Foster's foot is solidly on the glow. <Grith> "Light doesn't usually make hold things up, does it?" <Vita> "Hey Sam, can I borrow a stone?" <Erias> "I don't see that we have any other options. I'm willing to go first, if you like." <Foster> "Hm." <Fordran> "Move quickly, Erias. It seems to act a bit like quicksand." <Vita> "Maybe I should go first." <Vita> "I am the lightest." <Fordran> "Good point. Do we have any rope? That might be useful." <Apol> "Or me... I could try walking and fly if I need to." <Vita> "Rope, hmmmm" * Erias looks down over the edge, and tries to gauge distance. * Apol jumps off of Erias and floats down to the ground. <DM> You can't see the bottom. Or even the edges. <Erias> I have some rope. <Vita> "I do too." <DM> Apol, are you landing on the glow? <Foster> Rope sounds like a good idea. * Vita dismounts Pup and rummages in her bag <Apol> at the edge of the glow <Erias> "How about this. Vita, you tie rope around you and walk across, and Grith, you hold the other end." * Vita comes up with a rope <Erias> "...did someone say quicksand?" * Sam hands Vita a bullet. <Foster> "Go for it, Apol." <Erias> "If it really does work like quicksand, you might not be able to get free..." <Apol> "Sand is pretty salty, but an ok snack." <Vita> "Uh, ok, I'm fine with whatever" <Vita> "One sec, I just wanted to try something" * Vita tries to skim a rock across the top of the surface" <Vita> (Bullet, rock, whatever) * Erias helps tie a rope to Apol, and holds the other end. * Apol pulls the rope snuggly around the waist and moves forward into the diaphanous glow covering the gap. <Sam> "Assuming that the gap ends where I think it does..." <Sam> (monk gibberish translating roughly to "trivial jump check") <Grith> "I could throw someone... or something... across." <Apol> |roll d20+5 <tafal> 12 | [d20=7] [+5=5] * Vita sidles away from Grith <Sam> "No thank you." <DM> Apol stands firmly on the glow. <DM> It does not appear to be sinking. <Fordran> "Huh." <Vita> "Can you make it to the other side, Apol?" <Vita> (I don't know how long the rope is, though) * Apol walks around and towards the other side. <DM> It walks across without incident. <Apol> "It feels like ground." <Vita> "Hmmm." * Erias puts a foot on the glow. <Erias> |roll d20+10 <tafal> 29 | [d20=19] [+10=10] <DM> Erias' foot falls through. <DM> Reflex save. <DM> And reflex for everyone standing nearby to catch him, if necessary. <Fordran> |roll d20 <tafal> 13 | [d20=13] <Fordran> (err, add 6 to that) <DM> Ok, Fordran definitely catches him. * Vita probably isn't trying to catch someone that much bigger than her <Fordran> "Whoa!" <DM> Fordran pulls Erias back into balance. <Vita> "Eeep." <Apol> "Oh what happened? Are you too big, Erias?" <Erias> "That... it's not..." * Erias looks at the glowy thing. <Sam> (ugh, overbrewed tea ; ;) * Apol walks across again. <Apol> |roll d20+5 <tafal> 23 | [d20=18] [+5=5] <Erias> "It's not there." <Vita> "But then how did Apol walk across?" <DM> Apol falls through this time. <Erias> "I don't know." <Fordran> "Apol!" <Vita> "Ahh!" <DM> Slowly * Foster ponders. <Apol> "oooooOOooo" * Erias takes a tight hold on the rope. * Apol flies up. <Foster> "I think I have an idea." <Erias> "I really don't think there's anything there. I don't know how the rest of you are standing on it." <Apol> |roll d20+5 <tafal> 10 | [d20=5] [+5=5] <DM> As apol flies up through <DM> Apol hits the bottom of it. <Grith> "I think I should throw something across." <DM> And is unable to go further. <Apol> "Owww" <Apol> "Hey!" <Apol> (I'm trapped under the floor?) <Grith> "Or... bloody hell! The lizard is stuck!" <Foster> "How very odd." * Grith is very helpful today. <Vita> "I really think there's something there." <Fordran> "A... one-way wall?" <Apol> "Let me out!" <Foster> "Try flying away, then approaching it again." <Vita> (Is the rope stuck IN the wall now?) <Apol> "Or... Let me in?" <DM> Vita: Yes. <DM> It's passing through the glow. <DM> Apol: private message * Apol flies down and flies up towards the "floor" again. * Vita shakes her head <Vita> "This hurts my small gnomish brain." <Erias> "Just keep trying, Apol. We've got you with the rope, you're not going to fall." <Apol> |roll d20+5 <tafal> 7 | [d20=2] [+5=5] <Fordran> "Okay. Wait. Maybe it's only solid sometimes." <DM> Apol rises without incident. <DM> (Apol is back through) <Sam> "May I do something foolish?" <Foster> "I was about to volunteer for that." <Vita> "What if we just have everyone go across with rope, and just keep pulling them back if they fall?" <Apol> "Stranger and stranger..." <Vita> "Or people can do foolish things." <Sam> "Tie the rope around me." <Sam> "I shall run and jump across." * Vita volunteers her rope <DM> Vita, roll Int <Vita> |roll d20 <tafal> 13 | [d20=13] <DM> Foster, Apol, roll K: Arcana <Foster> |roll d20+5 <tafal> 18 | [d20=13] [+5=5] <Apol> |roll d20+5 <tafal> 10 | [d20=5] [+5=5] <Erias> "We just need to get Grith across. Then the rest of us can have a rope for safety." <Foster> "I'm going out on a limb here, but perhaps if you concentrated on believing that the floor was present while walking across..." * Vita looks at Foster, comprehension dawning <Sam> (assuming 15' gap, i can clear it trivially with run-up) <Vita> "Of course!" <Fordran> "Like closing our eyes and just pretending there's floor?" <Foster> "Illusions are only illusions if you try to disbelieve them." <Vita> "So we need to believe in the illusion of... the shiny stuff?" <Foster> "In any case, since Sam is already roped up, he may as well test the theory." <Fordran> "Thinking about that statement makes me head hurt, Foster." <Grith> (Can Grith jump it? I'm trying to decipher the jump rules right now.) * Sam tosses one more sling bullet to where he expects to land. <Grith> (Hmm. Waitafuck-...) <Grith> "Er... kids 'n critters..." <Erias> (It's a DC 15 check. I don't know what your jump bonus is.) <Vita> "Yes?" <DM> The sling bullet lands on the otherside just fine. * Vita turns towards Grith <Sam> (12 without monkspeed, a lot more with) <DM> What are we paused on? <Foster> Not a clue. * Vita was waiting for Grith to speak * Foster is personally waiting for Sam to do whatever he's planning on. * Sam runs up, takes 1 on Jump (21), makes it across. * Sam hopes that he's standing on something solid now. * Erias was waiting for Grith to speak. <DM> Ok, Sam is on the other side, standing on more of the odd white stone. <Fordran> " <Grith> (message for DM ;) ) <Foster> "Right. I'll just try my way, then." <Fordran> "Okay. We've got people on both sides. Just string some rope across, and we close our eyes and walk. Hold on to the rope. Yes?" <DM> What message? <Sam> "I'll try to anchor as best I can." * Foster walks across the thing, holding to the rope. <Erias> "Alright, someone lighter than me should -- yeah." <DM> Foster walks across without incident. <Vita> "Could someone walk Pup across? I can't hold onto him if he falls." * Erias will wait until after Fordran, and then go. * Apol hands the rope to Sam. <Erias> "I can walk with him." <Fordran> "I'll go next." <Apol> "anyone have any Pup treats?" * Fordran holds on to the rope, closes his eyes, and walks. * Vita tries to get Pup to understand to cross the gap and let Erias hold him * Sam cooperates with the whole rope scheme, yadda yadda. * Foster rummages through his pack. * Vita gives Erias some Pup-food * Grith backs about 10' away from his edge of the gap... takes a running start... and runs up one of the side walls, across the gap, and comes to a sliding stop on the other side. <Fordran> |roll d20+9 <tafal> 18 | [d20=9] [+9=9] * Grith turns and looks back, "I'm pretty sure I can carry most of you..." <Erias> "Uh... wow." <Grith> "Maybe all of you... armor and everything." * Vita 's jaw drops <DM> Fordran walks across without incident. <Erias> "Well, if you can hold a rope over there, that's good enough for me." <Fordran> "Can I open my eyes now?" <Erias> "I think I'm going to have some trouble walking on this." <DM> But, I guess everyone is gaping at Grith. * Foster chuckles. <Vita> (Sidenote: who is holding the rope on this side now?) <Foster> "Good trick, that." <Fordran> (no-one) <Vita> (Uhhhh) <Grith> "It's useful. Now... who do I need to carry? Anyone?" <Fordran> "Did someone let go of the rope while I was walking?" * Apol picks up the other end of the rope and flies over to Vita. <DM> ... <DM> Who was holding it anyway? <Vita> (I'm really confused about rope dynamics now) <Fordran> (i thought grith and sam were) <Vita> (I thought Grith was, but then he did that thing) <DM> So did I. <Apol> (Sam should be holding the other end) <Fordran> (and then grith jumped across. while i was walking) <Apol> (fling!) <Grith> (-ran- across. The walls.) * Sam is still holding an end of the rope. * Vita takes the rope from Apol, and looks confused and concerned <Foster> (The Rope is in a state of quantum flux. Please don't collapse the waveform until everyone is safely across) <DM> Y..yes. <DM> Ok, Vita has one end, Sam has the other end, and Fordran is safely across :P <Erias> Okay, once everyone's across, I'll tie the rope around myself and try it too. <DM> Vita, Pup, and Erias are on this side. <Vita> "Hey Grith - think you could carry Pup and I?" <Grith> "Really... I know you all don't know me too well, but don't you folks trust me more than some glowing... er... not-floor?" * Vita hands the rope to Erias <Vita> (me! Pup and me!) <Vita> (Oh well, int 10 and all) * Grith eyes Vita and her furry companion, "Dont' see why not." * Vita throws her hands up * Grith smiles widely. It looks odd on his stony face. <Vita> "Y'know, I hate illusions." <Vita> "Shall we?" * Grith runs back across via the walls. <Fordran> "We didn't know you could... what did you do, exactly? I had my eyes closed." <Sam> "You are not alone in that." <Grith> "Will the pup be okay with me pickin' 'im up?" * Vita whispers at Pup <Vita> "Where I go, he goes" <Erias> "I'll walk. Just someone hold the rope when I go." * Vita lays a hand on Pup's fur * Erias hangs onto this end of the rope, for now. <Grith> "Well... then..." <Vita> "It should be fine." <Grith> (I'll carry them both across at once if I can reasonably easily, otherwise, Vita first, then pup) <DM> You can get them both. * Grith lets them both down on the other side as gently as he can. * Vita clings to Pup as Grith scoops them both up (if she can) <Vita> "Thanks!" * Grith beams down, "Any time, little one." <Vita> "How do you do that?" <Grith> (er... "beams down AT HER") <Grith> (damn Trekkies) * Erias waits until they're stable and someone's got the rope, and then attempts to cross. <Grith> "I, uh... well, I just... I concentrate. I focus, y'know, and just will it that way?" * Grith turns, as if that's settled her question, and looks back across for anyone else who might need a lift. * Erias eyes Grith. <Erias> "Alright, got the rope?" * Vita has her mouth open and finger up, but he turns away and she closes it and shakes her head <Grith> "Y'sure you don't want a lift? It's no trouble!" * Erias starts across. <Erias> "No, that's --" <Erias> |roll d20+10 <tafal> 24 | [d20=14] [+10=10] <DM> Erias falls through <Apol> "Erias!" <Grith> (The Gabe face?) <Grith> (Vita) <Apol> "The rope!" <Vita> (Something like that) <Grith> "BLOODY-..." * Fordran grabs for the rope. * Erias braces for a side wall that isn't there. <Vita> (I thought Sam had the rope) <Erias> (I assumed Grith had the rope) * Sam anchors like crazy. <DM> Erias swings underneath the floor where the others are standing. <Foster> At this point, I think everyone on this side has the rope. <Grith> (Did I have the rope? I don't think so...) <Sam> (did i say i let go of the rope? i don't think i did) <DM> He swings back the other way, then back under, until he comes to a stop. * Grith tries desperately to get a hold of the rope... * Erias attempts to climb up. <Apol> (I gave Sam the rope... what Sam did with the rope is a different story :) <DM> Climb roll * Fordran is attempting to Aid Another on Sam's rope holding. <DM> I assume everyone else is hauling? <Grith> "Can we pull 'im up?!" <Foster> Yup. <Erias> |roll d20+2 <tafal> 22 | [d20=20] [+2=2] * Grith hauls Erias. <DM> Ok, you have him up in seconds. <Grith> (badum dum) * Vita will haul on the end of the rope if she's helping <Vita> (She probably isn't very helpful) <Erias> "Well, that works, I guess." <DM> The Ogre/Dragon turns back into an Ogre at some point, and floats over the pit curiously. * Fordran sort of gapes. * Erias sorts grapes. <Sam> ("I suppose you're going to laugh at us Puny Mortals now, bitch?") * Vita would gape, but her brain has stopped registering this sort of thing <Erias> "Right. Shall we?" <Foster> "Let's move on to the moderately deadly waste of time." <Sam> "Please." * Grith tries to keep an eye on the Ogre while heaving at the rope... probably fails at the keeping an eye part. * Erias unties the rope and gives it back to Vita. <DM> Pup whines and looks up the corridor. * Vita takes her rope back and stores it <Vita> (Up which way?) <DM> your side of the pit * Vita peers down the corridor * Grith then recollects his dropped items (sword), and dusts himself off. * Erias begins walking up the corridor, assuming the others start moving as well. <Apol> "Oh what's that smell?" <DM> Spot <Foster> |roll d20+1 <tafal> 12 | [d20=11] [+1=1] <Erias> |roll d20+1 <tafal> 16 | [d20=15] [+1=1] <Vita> |roll d20+11 <tafal> 15 | [d20=4] [+11=11] <Apol> |roll d20+10 <tafal> 23 | [d20=13] [+10=10] <Fordran> |roll d20+3 <tafal> 21 | [d20=18] [+3=3] <Sam> |roll d20+3 <tafal> 19 | [d20=16] [+3=3] <Grith> |rolld d20+3 <Grith> (argh) <Grith> |roll d20+3 <tafal> 19 | [d20=16] [+3=3] <DM> A horde of ugly 3 to 4 foot tall humanoids in pale gray robes come rushing down the corridor. Why are you guys closing your eyes?" <Apol> "Ohh shiney!" * Sam adopts a ready stance. <Grith> "Bloody hell!" <Fordran> "Apol? Why are their heads sparkling?" <Fordran> "Uh oh." * Vita closes her eyes <DM> Tell me if you want to shift position pre-combat <Apol> (move requested) <Grith> (Are they at the end of the corridor? I'm below half) * Erias looks fine. <DM> The goblin bits begin to sludge towards the open pit, as if being swept by an invisible hand. <Erias> "What the hell were those things?" <DM> All of the parts are gone in seconds. <DM> None of you are touched. * Grith staggers away from them, then against a wall, "That... that..." * Fordran keeps an eye out for extra goblins, and if there aren't any more threats in the near term, puts his mace away and pulls out his Wand of Shpinging. <DM> Some of you still have shards of skull, spatters of blood, and splinters of crystal in your clothing. * Grith sucks air in through his teeth and hugs himself, "That hurt more'n just my body!" <DM> No threats visible Fordran, go to it. * Vita twitches as the parts are gone <Apol> "I feel weird, too. What was that glow?" * Erias tries to brush off his armor. "Grith, are you alright?" <Fordran> "Who's injured?" * Grith shakes his head, "No... I don't... feel right." <Foster> "I'm fine." <Sam> "I am not injured. Grey needs to be." * Grith growls low in his throat. <Sam> "This is one of the few things of which I am certain." <Erias> "I'm fine." <Grith> "Yes. Grey needs to be. He's the one behind all this, right?" * Fordran taps Grith with his wand. <Foster> "As far as I'm aware." <Fordran> |roll 1d8+3 <tafal> 5 | [1d8=2] [+3=3] <DM> Healed for 5 <Fordran> "Any better? Some color came back when you shpinged him. * Grith shakes his head, "It's not... not my flesh. It's deeper. Inside." <Foster> (Calling it a night, I think. Feel free to carry on without me. So tired.) <Grith> "But... thank you." <DM> Yeah, we'll call it here. * Grith pats Fordran on the shoulder... which is still slightly staggering. <Fordran> (ok) <DM> Unless you're healing more. <DM> In which case that happens. * Fordran sinks a little from the shoulder patting. <Erias> Not a bad idea. I'm pretty tired myself. <DM> Heh. * Fordran heals others as needed, including himself. * Vita calls it a night <Fordran> |roll d8+3 <tafal> 11 | [d8=8] [+3=3] <DM> Erias needs no healing <Erias> Correct. <DM> So that's Fordran, Apol, Grith <Fordran> healing apol <Fordran> |roll d8+3 <tafal> 11 | [d8=8] [+3=3] <Fordran> (hot) <DM> You two should be fully healed, iirc <Fordran> yup * Apol feels physically well. * Erias mumbles something about draining of essence and restorative magics. <DM> Your body feels better, but something else feels unclean. * Apol is not feeling as confident with regards to skills and combat prowess. * Fordran mumbles something about not having enough power to restore that sort of fundamental damage. yet. <Grith> Ugh. <Grith> "" <DM> Ok, fade to black, giant TO BE CONTINUED, roll credits.
