<DM> So, brief recap: <DM> Erias, Fordran, and Yawin were in Threecrown getting debriefed by the Radiant Knights of Pelor. <DM> Vita and Sam went to look for them, and they are now back in the Gray Facility <DM> Foster and Apol spent all day identifying items in the Armory. <DM> Grith wandered off to speak with Dianarra, and is now back in the Armory. <Erias> We are all back in the facility now, right? <Fordran> we haven't left, i think <Vita> I'm pretty sure we'll all back in the facility <DM> Erias: Yeah <DM> Geordan: He means back from town <Fordran> wait, did we leave after loot divvying? <DM> No. <DM> Colin wasn't present <DM> That's why he doesn't know about being back. <Fordran> oh, right. right. <Fordran> so anyway, "we haven't left the facility [since returning and divvying loot]". <Vita> ...yeah * Fordran ninja's everything. <Ian> Too late. <Fordran> damnit. <Vita> Yeah, this may be a good night to leave Vita auto-following until something happens that I actually have to pay attention to <Vita> *Audrey is studying for finals, whee! <Erias> That's what I meant. Fordran and Erias are back from meeting with Lucidus. <Erias> And we attempted loot division. <Erias> And we have not yet left. <DM> I'm retconning that loot division didn't happen. <DM> Your characters just magically pick up useful things for right now. <Fordran> (nooooo! my beautiful items) <Foster> After hearing of the plan to jump in on the Church, Foster says something along the lines of "If I am to be of any use in this, I must rest and restore my reserves" and heads for the room we have set aside. <Erias> Okay. Cool. As per my in-character comments above. * Fiona is now known as Apol <DM> And awkwardly avoid looking at each other whenever loot splitting is discussed. * Fordran looks at his feet. <DM> Occasionally, someone will attempt to say something, but gulps it down with a look from someone else. * Vita pets her new longbow fondly, rejoicing in being the main bow user <Fordran> (un-editing stats to undo looting) <DM> Fordran: Keep the loot <DM> It's just not "yours" <DM> Leave stats edited, etc * Erias picks up the Tower Shield and Splint Mail (I gather no one else is using those, for this fight at least) * Erias picks up the Heavy Mace as well, unless Fordran takes it. <Erias> that's it for items I'm bringing on this run. * Foster takes the ring with him, leaves the belt for now. <Fordran> (...oh) <Fordran> (un-un-editing) * Apol rests magically abused hind-paws. * Fordran has the light mace and the mithral chainmail. * Foster will ideally be ready in 8 hours, but if Pelor's schedule demands that you arrive sooner, you shouldn't feel the need to wait for him. <DM> Erias, what are you doing for the time being? <DM> Rather, since Lucidus has no way of contacting you, or even knows where you are, what's your schedule? * Apol returns the red/gold cloak and silver circlet. <Erias> I'm trying to think of anything useful to do in the interim. <Fordran> "Erias, do you know when the Radiant Knights will begin their assault? Do we need to coordinate with them?" <Erias> ...nope. <Erias> "You heard their request, did you not? Be ready at the end of the night's final congregation." * Devo has joined #ddi * DM sets mode: +o Devo <Erias> "Beyond that, I know little. I suggest we arrange to arrive at the outskirts of town... perhaps an hour before that time?" <Fordran> (grope) <Fordran> "What time does the last congregation end?" <Devo> (Ngah!) * Devo is now known as Grith <Erias> "X hours after sundown, I believe." <Erias> (...DM?) <DM> 7 hours from now. <DM> ~11pm <Vita> (It had to be 7, didn't it) <Erias> ^X^5 <Fordran> "Will we be meeting with the other knights before the assault?" <Foster> (basic math tells you that Foster won't be ready until midnight. act as you will) <Fordran> "And what will we be trying to accomplish?" <DM> Vita: 11pm, plus calculations of how long it takes Foster to Identify 9 times, plus time he got up to wake up his contact. <Erias> "Since it's a couple hours yet until dusk, we have... 6 hours or so, if we want to meet them beforehand." <Erias> "We will try to meet the Knights an hour beforehand. We have not been explicitly asked to do so, but it will simplify things." <Erias> "I believe that our goals are to find out more about this evil almost-god, and destroy it if we can." <Vita> (I wasn't complaining, I was just amused at the irony) <Foster> (irony doesn't exist for me~) <Erias> "I suggest that one goal be to get to the guarded room, that Apol saw last time." * Fordran nods. <Erias> "I have an ability to sense which of the Church members are likely to be collaborators and which are likely innocent. Beyond that, we may need to use our best judgement in determining how to handle the fight." <Fordran> "I guess the Knights will be a good distraction." <Erias> "I think that's about right. They will do well, and they will quite likely do great damage to the fighting capacity of the Church." <Vita> "So Erias, we should follow your lead in terms of, um... eliminating threats?" <Erias> "But we should consider ourselves responsible for more specific goals." <Grith> (Where is Grith at the moment?) <Erias> (to Vita) "Well, I am happy to lead as best I can. You should certainly defend yourself, regardless. But I would try to avoid actually killing anyone unless it is clear that they are deliberately working toward evil." <DM> (In the armory with everyone else) <Foster> (unless he's stalking Foster) <Sam> (yo!) <Grith> (I'm sure Foster is dead sexy and all, but no.) <Grith> (Hiyo!) <Grith> "Deliberately working toward evil... or tryin' ta kill ya!" <Erias> "Well, use your best judgement. But understand that some of these men may really believe they are defending a holy place. Have some sympathy for their situation." <Fordran> "Perhaps if possible, simply subdue them instead of delivering a killing blow." * Grith gives Erias a look, "Define 'sympathy'." <Fordran> "They have been lied to, Grith." <Erias> "..." <Fordran> "They believe that they belong to a church that does good... but instead they are being used." <Erias> "I mean... they're kind of like us. Just confused." * Grith nods, shrugs, "I s'pose we all have. I'll do what I can." <Fordran> (kind of like Alias. did you watch Alias, Grith? no, probably not.) <DM> (*smack*) <Grith> "What -can- I do, 'xactly?" <Vita> (Vita tries to find the "non-lethal" setting on her bow) <Foster> |roll d20+8 <tafal> 16 | [d20=8] [+8=8] (Foster) <DM> (Extra spikes and a skull shaped cowcatcher pops out the front) <Vita> (hahaha) <Erias> (Okay. I don't honestly think Erias is going to do much in the next 6 hours.) <DM> Anyone killing time in any particular way, or do I say "6 hours pass?" <Fordran> (6 months pass) <Erias> (I'm good.) <DM> ("Shit, guys, I think we forgot something.") <Vita> (I'm fine with that) <Sam> (go ahead.) <Fordran> ("The hot tub?") <DM> 6 hours pass... <Sam> (meditates, plays with staff, etc.) * Foster remains meditative. <Grith> (Grith cleans/oils weapons, armor, etc... catnaps at some point) <Grith> (Cleans himself, too.) <DM> (Not... like a cat... I hope) <Sam> (ew.) <Fordran> (prays, etc) <Grith> (...no.) * DM gets out DM dice... cold ones for player saves and spot/listen checks... hot ones for NPCs... ok. <Erias> "Fordran, I have a prayer that may help protect you. It may help somewhat, and you're good at keeping the rest of us standing. But it will only last as long as you stay within a dozen paces of me." * Fordran nods. "I'll try to stay close." <Erias> "It should last at least a couple of hours, but I'll wait until we're almost ready before casting, so we can move a bit more freely in the meantime." * Erias has spent some time practicing with the weapons and armor he will be using tonight. <Erias> "It's about time to go... is everyone ready?" * Fordran emerges from a Convenient Side Room where he has been putting on the new chainmail. <DM> (Prude) <DM> (The Gray... The Gray watch) * Fordran shrugs his shoulders. "I think I'm about as ready." <Fordran> (; ;) * Foster is absent, as he had previously stated he would be. <Fordran> "...Wait. Someone said that this mail could be disguised somehow? How do I change what it looks like?" <Erias> "Where is Foster? Shouldn't he be ready by now?" <DM> (Heh heh.) * Erias looks at Fordran and shrugs helplessly. <Foster> (according to previous information, Foster won't be ready for another 2 hours) * Erias looks around for a Gray. <DM> How about, for sanity's sake, assume Foster told you. * Grith glances up from tightening his leg armors, nods to Erias, then stands and begins tightening his breasplate straps. <Fordran> "Oh wait, I remember." <DM> When he described all the armor. <Erias> (You mean... he'll be ready at the split-second the fight starts?) * Fordran concentrates. <DM> Fordran is wearing a nice floral-print. <Fordran> (* Fordran turns into the Sta-puft Marshmallow Man.) <Foster> (Something like that.) * Vita follows the others <Erias> (oh, wait, no. 7 hours. he'll be ready an hour after the fight starts.) <Fordran> "Hm. Not quite what I wanted." <DM> I mean, uh, whatever clothes he wants. * Fordran concentrates some more. * Fordran appears to be wearing the robes that a priest of Pelor might be seen wearing. <DM> (Heh I was just about to ask "Priest robes?") * Erias nods approvingly. "Very nice." <Erias> "What do we do about Foster? Did he not realize we would need to leave?" <DM> It is mostly a very clean white with the golden face-of-Pelor-sun symbol on the tabard. * Apol picks up the *tiny* long black silk cape and puts it on. * Erias looks around for a Gray, again. <DM> There are some in the Workroom, round the clock. * Vita smiles at Fordran "Nice dre...I mean robes Fordran" <Fordran> "He's been working at identifying the items for a couple days now... I suspect he's exhausted." <Fordran> "Tha... thanks. Vita." <DM> @ Erias <DM> (A "Human" "Paladin" called Erias) <Erias> (called Erias*) * Grith eyes Fordran and Erias, "I'd recommend against chargin' in there without Foster." <DM> But seriously. As I said, Grays in the workroom. <Erias> "Gray, where is Foster?" <Fordran> "But will he be ready?" <Erias> "If he is ready, he comes with us. If he is not, I'm not going to stay here and let the Knights charge in on their own." <Grith> "Can we delay our attack at all?" <DM> (Gray) "... In the temporary rest area. I believe he is meditating to replenish his psychic strength." <Erias> "Gray, do you know how long it will be until he is ready? And whether we can safely speak to him?" <Sam> "I shall be ready at whatever hour you appoint." <DM> (Gray) "... He began... 5 and a half hours ago." <DM> (or 6 or whatever.) <Erias> "The hour we've appointed is this one. We need to see Foster now." * Erias walks toward the rest area. <Erias> brb 1 sec <DM> Foster is sitting on his mattress, meditating. * Grith props Shara, then himself against the wall, tree-trunk arms folded over his chest, "Well... planning doesn't seem ta be this groups particular strength." * Vita mutters under her breath ' <Vita> (arg) <Vita> "I'm pretty sure he said he wouldn't be ready... Well I'll go when everyone else does" <Fordran> "We don't have a choice, Grith. The Radiant Knights will attack at a given time. They may need our help. If we are not there for them, this whole assault may fail. We have a plan. We are going to follow it." * Fordran looks irritated with Grith. <DM> (Waiting on Erias) <Grith> "The Radiant Knights made the plan?" * Fordran nods. <Grith> "Aren't used ta playin' with others, eh." <Erias> (I'm sorry, guys. Neighbor's friend who parked in my spot showed up. And then Jen, with food, trying to park in the same driveway to drop it off.) * Erias ...continues walking to the rest area. <DM> Foster is sitting on his mattress, meditating. <Fordran> "Perhaps, perhaps not. They decided that striking immediately after the last congregation ended was the best time. We agreed to that plan. Do you have a problem with that?" <DM> You see him, Erias. * Fordran narrows his eyes, hand tightening its grip on the light mace at his waist. * Erias speaks quietly, but loud enough to be heard. "Foster, we need to leave now. The Knights attack in less than an hour." <DM> (Um, why are you in a PK mood, Fordran, you're not the one wearing the cursed... uh... scratch that.) <Fordran> (shhhhh) <Erias> "If you cannot accompany us, I understand. And I understand that speaking may disrupt what you are doing." * Vita looks very very uncomfortable, assuming that she's still in the same room as Fordran and Grith * Grith eyes Fordran, shrugs noncommitally, "Who put a burr under yer armor?" <Sam> (Fordran TEAMKILL #1 *autokick enabled*) <Fordran> "These knights are sworn defenders of Pelor, instruments of his will. As I am." * Erias waits for a minute to see if Foster responds. <DM> Foster remains silent. * Foster remains silent. <DM> Heh. <Erias> Heh. <Fordran> (Foster remains silent.) <Grith> (Heh.) * Erias bows. <Erias> "We will return in a few hours. If you are able to join us, Gray should be able to send you somewhere nearby. We seek to find the guarded room in the Church, and ideally confront the not-yet-god and destroy it." <Grith> "So y' are. How long do we expect this raid ta take, anyhow?" * Erias turns and leaves the room. <DM> Erias returns to the armory, and the confrontation-in-progress. <Fordran> "I don't know. Depends on what opposes us." <Erias> (they don't sound obviously confrontational now. But let me know if I can tell.) <Grith> "Well, I s'pose if it takes long enough, Foster won't miss all tha fun." <DM> Sense Motive, Erias <Erias> "I think Foster will need to wait." <Erias> |roll d20+7 <tafal> 8 | [d20=1] [+7=7] (Erias) <DM> Friendly banter. * Fordran looks at Erias, nods. <Grith> (Yay, tafal!) * Erias smiles at the others. "So let us begin." <Fordran> "If we do need him, we'll want him at his full strength." <Grith> "Without a doubt." <Erias> "I've suggested that he join us when he feels ready. I am sure Gray can help him find us." <DM> The party makes its way to the central control chamber. (Grab what you need) * Vita says quietly "I think he would want that too." <Fordran> (grabbing trebuchet) * Vita follows the others <Erias> (grabbing BFG) * Grith yanks the mindarmor over his head, unless someone objects. <Sam> (grabbing "Smite" button) <Fordran> (grabbing yermom) <DM> (You really should see DAoC pvp sometime, Geo... real siege weapons) <Grith> (grabbing Armor of Resist Plot and Greatsword of Improved Cleave Plot) <Fordran> (mmm, trebuchets) <Fordran> (grabbing a level of Plotdancer) <Sam> (stupid railroad plot.) <Erias> "Grith, I may be able to give you a blessing of protection for just a few minutes. If you're willing, I'll do so just before we attack." <Grith> (grabbing Geordan's breast) <Fordran> (gnah) <Fordran> (but he won't be able to attack!) <DM> When you arrive, the Gray that's been doing the teleporting asks, "Where would you like to arrive?" <Fordran> (ohhhh that blessing of protection.) <Grith> (Best. Setup. Evar!) <Sam> (so i still have the go-faster staff, hmyes?) * Grith spends a lot of time flipping the mask up and down on his armor. <DM> (Sam: yeah) <Grith> ^armor^helmet <Grith> ^his^the <Erias> "If there is a hidden alley or similar area near the Inn, that would be ideal. Otherwise, outside the town, where you sent Fordran and Yawin and myself earlier." <DM> (Grith: You feel: Resolved! Meh. Resolved! Meh. Die Sturm und Drang! Wenig.) <DM> He nods. <Grith> (Meh.) <Erias> (whoops, right, I need new derived stats.) <DM> (Gray) "If you could, move closer together, there are a lot of you." <Grith> "Er... sorry, folks." * Grith pushes towards the center. * Vita hops aboard Pup and moves in a little <DM> Anybody not failing the Will save, let me know :P <Fordran> ("a little to the left... little more... everyone smile.) <Grith> (Will save?) <DM> *vworn* <DM> (To teleport) <DM> (You're allowed to resist) <Grith> (Heh.) <Grith> (no) <DM> It's dark when you arrive, blinking away the afterglow of the relative brightness in the facility. <DM> (Except to Apol) * Erias blinks. <DM> As your vision clears, you can see the small square where the Sandpiper is, just outside of the alley mouth where you arrived. <DM> (Those of you who didn't come earlier, the Sandpiper is an inn.) <Foster> |roll d20+8 <tafal> 12 | [d20=4] [+8=8] (Foster) * Grith muttes softly after they arrive, then goes quiet. <Grith> (mutters) <Sam> (eeww, i've got vworn on me!) <Erias> "Alright, let's head in. Hopefully they are still here." * Erias and the others presumably enter the inn and look/ask for the Knights. <Foster> |roll d20+8 <tafal> 16 | [d20=8] [+8=8] (Foster) <DM> When you enter the inn, there's no innkeeper to be seen. <DM> Instead, Torenn is standing guard just inside, mace drawn. <DM> He waves the group to the back room after seeing Erias. <DM> He carefully eyes each member of the party as you pass. * Fordran bows slightly. <DM> (He stops Belkar) <Fordran> (too slow, brother) * Vita nods at Torenn * Apol eyes him back (with monocle out). * Grith sizes him up openly as he passes. * Sam barely acknowledges Torenn. <DM> As the party files into the back room, it's getting pretty crowded in there. <DM> Lucidus looks up as you enter. <DM> Those of you who haven't seen him, he's a human male in shining full plate armor, emblazoned with the symbol of Pelor <Erias> (yarg, sorry, was afk a moment) <DM> He stands about 5'10, with blonde hair and blonde beard with gray streaks * Erias bows to Lucidus. * Fordran bows to Lucidus. * Vita bows too <Fordran> "Sir Kryschar." <Sam> (horned viking helmet?) * Vita probably left Pup outside <DM> (no helmet) <Erias> (It's not a deep bow, but not a token one either.) <DM> "Erias." He looks around at the gathered knights. "Let's move to the common room. The inn is deserted anyway." * Sam nods at Lucidus. * Erias nods. <Erias> "We thought we might meet with you a bit early, and give ourselves more time to plan." * Grith positions himself near the door, if possible. <Fordran> "What did the town magistrate say?" <DM> He begins to talk, but stops mid-word as Foster enters past Torenn. <DM> (Torenn) "Sir. Says he's with Erias." * Fordran turns. "Foster? Are you ready?" * Erias turns, looks slightly surprised. <Erias> "He is with me." <Foster> "Yes. My apologies for being late." <Foster> "Some things can't be hurried. Much." <Fordran> "None needed. You're just in time." * Apol lands on Foster's shoulder. <DM> (Apol's feeling heavy these days~) * Grith slaps Foster on the (other) shoulder. <DM> (Foster, take 3d6 nonlethal~) * Foster is remarkably solid for a 132 lb weakling. <DM> (Lucidus) "Are there any more of your compatriots, Erias, or shall we begin?" <Erias> (Grith is unremarkably solid for a 400 lb walking piece of muscle.) * Erias grins slightly. "I think this is all of us. We met a couple of other allies in town, but they're unlikely to join us." <DM> He nods, addresses the bulk of the group. <Grith> (290 lbs.! You callin' me fat?!) <Sam> (yes.) <Erias> (Ah, crap.) <DM> (Lucidus) "The mayor is in hiding, and the constables and magistrates are frightened. No one of authority was 'available.'" You can hear the scare quotes. <Fordran> "Frightened? Of what?" <DM> (Lucidus) "Disappearances, a string of kidnappings and murders. Apparently random violence on the streets and in some taverns. All in the past few days." <DM> (Lucidus) "Some mention of horrors in the sewers and such." * Erias forehead-crinkles. * Vita looks disturbed and saddened, and feels a little guilty for just sitting around for a few days * Grith 's brow draws together and down. * Sam looks nonplussed. <Erias> "I suppose there is no direct proof that these incidents are related to the Church?" <DM> (Lucidus continues) "The sole lieutenant attempting to keep order was too overwhelmed when I brought my charges." <DM> (Lucidus, to Erias) "No, but they are all now my concern, as I will be declaring Martial Law." * Fordran nods grimly. * Erias nods. <Erias> "It is a wise choice at this point." * Vita looks slightly confused, but not confused enough to ask <Erias> "If the conventional order is overwhelmed or in hiding, we must do what we can until it can resume control." <Erias> (Erias keeps forgetting what his int score is.) <Erias> (Then again, eloquence / vocabulary are Cha, in large part, and even partly Wis) <DM> (Lucidus) "The constables will cooperate by calming the citizenry once we begin. We leave in an hour, and form up in the courtyards of the merchant district in three points around the Temple plaza." <Foster> (as a member of a militant order dedicated to the preservation of law, I think Erias would know about martial law, regardless of int) * Grith , bored, fishes around in it, then slides his closed fist out. <Erias> (yep. but he might say something more like "Yeah! Gotta keep order!" if his int was low.) <Erias> (in... what?) <DM> (Lucidus) "I will send a Bel'ena ahead to watch for the dispersal of the congregation, and signal for us to enter." <Grith> (in his belt pouch) <Grith> (oy) <Fordran> (whew) * Erias nods. <Erias> "We are ready." * Vita nods <Erias> "Fordran?" <DM> (Lucidus) "Erias, you know the layout better than we do, mark out what you remember." * Erias pauses, and turns back to the table. <DM> Someone provides parchment and quill. * Fordran nods. "We should describe what room we will be heading for." * Erias sketches what he can remember. "Foster, if you have anything to add, please let me know." * Apol leaps and lands on the table. <Sam> (many bothans died to bring us this coffee) <Erias> "Ah, right, Apol. You are the only one who saw the inside of the guarded room." <Apol> "The room is to the right of the stairs we came up from the sewers." <DM> (Keep killing Bothans until subscriptions go up.) <Fordran> (Teleport them into space.) <Apol> "The door was locked." <Erias> "...oh. Yes. This is Apol, by the way. A very young dragon, I think." <Apol> "Hi!" <Apol> "You have nice armor..." <Foster> "Beyond the probably location of the teleportation beacon, and the fact that Subdeacon Mozwell would very much like to kill you, I have little to note." <Foster> s/probably/probable/ <DM> (Lucidus) "...Ah." <Erias> "Yes, Moziwell is the only official I know to be evil." <DM> (Lucidus) "What is the size of their force?" <Erias> (do I have any sense of that?) <DM> (You only saw the three) <Fordran> "Unknown. We have only seen a few armed men at a time. Yawin might know better." <DM> (Yawin) "I fought alongside six of them. I didn't see any more than that, though they referred to the group as if it were larger." <Apol> (To Erias) "Past the door are stairs that go down. It was dark. It ends in a room with a table." * Erias marks that down. <DM> (Lucidus) "Which of these rooms are locked, can be barred from the inside, or contain armaments?" <Fordran> (did we ever mention that Golden Vial/Teleporting Beacon thing to lucidus?) <Fordran> "There was the library. I don't think there were arms there." <Erias> (um... the Golden Vial part was in my report. I assume.) <DM> (Yeah, but not the beacon) <DM> (That was Stuff About Gray that you guys didn't bring up) <Foster> "At least one inhabitant of the library was a harmless scholar who may very well be dead by now." <Fordran> "Then there was what appeared to be the sleeping quarters... that could have arms, and presumably can be locked." * Apol puts a paw under it's chin and looks deep in thought. <Erias> "Wait, Foster, can you tell the others more about the beacon?" <Foster> "The general purpose of at least some of the golden vials is to act as teleportation spells that trigger upon the death of the user, sending their bodies to a specific location, marked by a beacon. It is probable that this is located in a shrine somewhere within the church." <DM> (Lucidus) "How many spellcasters do they have?" <Foster> "The only one I'm aware of is Subdeacon Mozwell, and even then, I don't know for sure." <Erias> brb <Apol> "Oh, I remember... Subdeacon opened the door by muttering something to it." <Fordran> "There is also that mysterious 'Zom', who we know nothing about." <Foster> "Indeed. Mozwell made some mention of it when he was pondering cruel things to do to Erias." <DM> Lucidus turns to his knights. "Every target is a potential caster, go in pairs, one to incapacitate, the other to interrupt, as we've trained." <Erias> (back) <Fordran> (nerf paladins) <Erias> (I assume that I reported the sacrifice of two warriors to power the one knight?) <DM> (Lucidus) "Consider every individual inside a potential threat, render all noncombatants or neutralized combatants unconscious, then bind, gag, and blindfold." <DM> (Erias: yes) <Erias> "There was a researcher or librarian in the library who did not seem to be hostile -- he was eager to research this "Zom" entity. So he may not be one of them. But your approach does seem safest, I suppose." <Erias> (Erias has been away from the Knights too long. Clearly, he has lost his edge.) * Grith smiles broadly for no reason at all. <DM> (Lucidus) "I will take Torenn, Jaim, Bel'ena and Yawin in first. Erias, take your allies in behind, then clear to the door down to this *points* basement stairwell, and hold. Lady Aserin, take the triplets, Malef and Werner to cover our entry, and support if necessary." <DM> (Lucidus) "Any questions?" He looks around. * Erias shakes his head, bows. * Vita lowers her head so low that her face can't be seen and shakes it no * Fordran shakes his head. <Fordran> "No, sir." <Sam> "No questions." * Grith reaches up to scratch his head, then just shrugs, "Guess not." <DM> Lady Aserin grins and hefts her spear. * Foster finds a chair and loafs until it is time for action. <DM> Lucidus nods. <DM> He pulls out his holy symbol and bows his head. * Erias bows his head as well. * Fordran bows his head. * Vita looks around, shrugs, follows suit <Erias> (1, 2, 3, break!) <DM> (Lucidus) "Pelor, we go to bring your Light into the dark places of the world. Shine upon us, your humble servants, that all may feel your glory." <Sam> (gooooo team pelor?) <Fordran> (yay team cleric!) <Erias> (how's it feel to be part of someone else's religious crusade, guys?) <Fordran> (remember you get XP) <Erias> (yay team XP!) <Sam> (you'll find out when i write the tell-all memoir~) <Foster> (heh) <Grith> (Yay pummeling small pink things!) <DM> (Giant pink fuzzy dies for your sins! The Passion of the Chu-Chu) <Foster> (WEEPING) <Grith> (gak) <Sam> (fuck chu.) <Grith> (hee!) <Erias> (bless you) <Sam> (/hanky) <DM> The hour passes with anticipation. <DM> The triplets are visibly excited. * Fordran spends most of that hour praying. * Vita goes outside and calms herself by finding the nearest tree to sit under <Fordran> (brb bio) <Erias> (brb writing my bio) <Vita> (Oh my god! Nature! Haven't see that in ages! *hugstree*) <DM> Lucidus walks to the door of the inn, turns, nods, and all the knights pull their cloaks over their armor to cover some of the shine. * Sam meditates, performs calming kata, etc. <Erias> (er, nevermind, still here) * Erias turns to Fordran and casts a spell. <DM> It's not a disguise for 10 armed and armored guys, but hey. * Grith follows Vita out into a less cramped space, but stops in the inn common room to pull himself a draft. Carries it outside to enjoy the open air with Vita. <DM> He opens the door, nods to Lady Aserin, who walks her squad briskly off in the direction of the merchant quarter. * Foster stands up, makes sure that all bits of weaponry, etc are accounted for, follows the rest of the group when ready. <Erias> (hey, my Move Silently skill is -10. It would be -15, but this is special silent splint mail.) <DM> Lucidus looks to Erias, and nods. * Vita returns to the group when necessary * Erias heads out. * Fordran stands up, bows to Lucidus. Follows Erias. * Apol follows Erias. <Fordran> (no one seems to mind Fordran being in pansy ass robes.) * Erias moves slowly, giving Lucidus plenty of time to take the lead. <DM> Jaim, who has changed into a chain shirt, covers it in a loose linen tunic, and jogs ahead. * Vita follows Erias, Fordran, etc <DM> (Erias: He's splitting the groups) <Grith> (Grith doesn't want to know) <Grith> (Did Grith get one of those cloaks that... -might-... improve saves?) <Erias> "Vita, could you take the lead? Keep an eye out, and try not to be too obvious?" <Sam> (hm, yeah, same question) <Vita> "Sure." <DM> (sure. but roll as if it didn't) * Fordran concentrates for a moment. His white priestly robes change to those of a commoner. <Sam> (righto) * Vita waves Pup back to be with the others and sneaks ahead a little <Grith> (k) <Erias> (we can metagame this as much as you like. the idea is, approach the church, stay out of sight, wait for Lucidus to attack.) <Sam> (yarr.) <DM> Okay, you get to your appointed area. It's not within direct sight of the plaza. * Vita mounts Pup once we're all together again <DM> You see some people in small groups between 1 and 5 begin to filter through the streets. * Vita whispers to Erias "How do we know when to go, again?" <DM> Some of them give you apprehensive looks, and walk faster. <Erias> (DM, how do we know when to go if we're out of sight of the Church?) * Erias smiles disarmingly. <Erias> (their weapons clatter to the ground.) <Grith> (*slap*) <Vita> (Wait, filter through the streets away from the church?) <DM> (Bel'ena usually signals with a flare arrow) <DM> (Vita, yeah) <DM> (They're leaving the last congregation) <Erias> (quietly) That's probably the congregation leaving. Lend me strength!" <Fordran> "Pelor, cast your light upon us!" (Bless) <Fordran> (you all get +1 moral to attack rolls and saves against fear.) <Erias> After the initial round of whatever people do, Erias begins jogging toward the Church. <Fordran> (morale) <Erias> (I keep close to the group, though.) * Foster turns on the Ring of Force Shield. * Grith sees everyone else tense and draws Shara. <DM> Lucidus and his group has formed up at the steps, and is striding in, shield ready and mace drawn. * Sam grasps the Staff of Go Faster. <DM> *VMMMMM* * Grith kisses her on the flat, near the hilt. <DM> (force shield) * Vita and Pup follow at a reasonable distance (10-15 feet from Erias) * Fordran readies his buckler. <Erias> "Pause at the doors for a moment -- give the others time to clear the entryway." * Apol keeps up with Erias. * Fordran nods wordlessly. * Grith takes the rear, as usual, unless someone directs him otherwise. <Fordran> (and then the Balor attacks.) <Erias> (not hard, I'm only moving at 40' / rd, double-moving.) <DM> Lady Aserin's group approaches, stopping at the top of the steps, facing the plaza. <Fordran> (BY FIBER BE PURGED!) <Erias> At the doors, Erias will pause and cast a spell on Grith. <DM> (muffled voice) "Wha?" *thud wham thud* *silence* * Grith feels enspelled? <DM> Jaim pops his head out and waves you in. * Erias enters. (Grith, I'll get you stats, one sec) <DM> When you enter, Lady Aserin's squad takes over covering the door. <DM> Bel'ena has her bow out, Torenn has twin light maces out, Jaim is twirling his spiked chain. * Vita enters 10 feet behind Erias * Apol clings to the wall and walks near the ceiling. <Erias> Grith: you have a +2 (deflection) to AC vs. evil creatures. You have a +2 (resistance) to saves vs. evil creatures. You cannot be dominated or charmed or controlled. You cannot be touched physically by summoned creatures, unless they are Good. If I go to bed after 10 pm these days, I'm too tired the next day.) <Foster> "Tch." <Foster> |roll d20+13 <tafal> 16 | [d20=3] [+13=13] (Foster) <DM> Foster's brow furrows in concentration <Fordran> (die tafal die die die) * Foster unleashes 3 bolts of fire that streak towards the cloud of mist and two temple knights. <Foster> |roll 8d6+8 <tafal> 31 | [8d6=23] [+8=8] (Foster) <DM> |roll d20+1 <tafal> 11 | [d20=10] [+1=1] (DM) <DM> |roll d20+1 <tafal> 9 | [d20=8] [+1=1] (DM) <DM> |roll d20+9 <tafal> 18 | [d20=9] [+9=9] (DM) <DM> The missiles of fire pierce the mist, then the two knights. <DM> The knights collapse, dead, and the mist dissipates in a painful "Screeeee--" <Erias> (mist?) <Foster> that the captain dissolved into. <Erias> (oh. right. didn't know he was specifically that.) <DM> Out of init. <Grith> (What about the floating brain?) <Foster> (On our side) <DM> (It's currently floating sedately up at the ceiling in the shape of a handsome armored knight, with wings and halo~) <Erias> (Erias is not certain of that) * Apol looks at the knight with wings floating near the ceiling and says, "Hi!" * Vita thinks this might be a good spot to call it a night <DM> He smiles. * Sam looks very warily at Sir Floaty. <Grith> (Grith is fully prepared to take a swing at it...) <Vita> (Maybe I can get some more studying in before bed!) <Foster> "I think it's on our side. At the very least, it was attacking the temple knights." * Apol laughs and rapidly speaks in draconic. * Grith puts a hand over his heart and grimaces, "Uh... so... cold again... empty..." <Erias> (I assumed initially that it was draining the temple knights to power itself. Like the other knight did, earlier.) <Fordran> "Grith, come here. I can aid you." <Erias> (Okay, if you guys do anything further, assume that Erias will lead everyone toward the formerly guarded door, when you're ready.) <Foster> "I think I kind of overdid it with the fire bolts, though. Never used 'em before." * Foster looks somewhat sheepish. * Grith frowns at Fordran, "Save your power... if there're more like these, we'll need yer power more'n mine." <Fordran> (actually maybe i can't. i need some diamond dust worth 100g) * Vita moves to Grith to see if he's ok, then follows with everyone else as she goes back to studying <DM> (Lucidus) "Quickly now, administer healing, Erias, you and your squad, hold the stairwell. Aserin, hold this area, in case we need to fall back. The rest of you, with me." * Grith smiles reassuringly down at Vita. <Foster> (fully in favor of calling it a night here, as we hold the stairwell) * Fordran nods at Grith. "We'll get you fixed up later, then." <DM> (okay, we'll stop here) <Erias> (okay) <DM> Fordran <Fordran> ? <DM> You grabbed lots of diamonds from the vault <DM> Let's say... enough for 5 uses * Grith is now known as Devo <Fordran> (and then SMASHED them into BITS.) * Fordran gropes Devo. <Devo> Ngah! * Vita is now known as Audrey <Devo> (bastard!) <DM> There, you've been Restored. <Sam> (cringing at thought of smashed diamonds) <Fordran> (thought Grith passed on restoration) <Devo> (he did) <DM> Oh. Ok. <Devo> (Which is stupid, but hey... that's Grith for ya) <Erias> night all <DM> So yeah, in case you guys wondered, Erias unloaded his full barrel of Lay on Hands + Smite into that Vampire Spawn <Fordran> nite <Fordran> (figured) <DM> That uh, made it a short encounter. <Audrey> night night <Devo> Go Erias! <Erias> Note, however, that actually that didn't shorten anything. <DM> I thought backup would get there in time :P <Devo> Night people who are sleeping! <Foster> Pfft. Backup. <Erias> Turned -> destroyed... actual damage irrelevant. <Erias> Anyway, gotta sleep. <Apol> night <DM> The turning didn't destroy him outright <DM> He only took turning daamge <DM> Lucidus counts as a Cleric-3 <Foster> Uh. That was turned -> turns to mist in order to run -> gets a 31 damage fire missile in the ass. <Erias> Oh, is that how it works now? I thought turning was destroy or turn or nothing. <Erias> ohh. <DM> It's "nothing -> damage -> destroy" depending on your 1st turn check <Erias> okay. really goodnight now. * Erias has quit IRC (Quit: HydraIRC -> http://www.hydrairc.com <- State of the art IRC) <DM> night * Foster also calls it a night. <DM> K * Foster has quit IRC (Quit: Foster) <DM> Thanks guys, was fun. * DM is now known as Randolph * Randolph saves logs <Devo> I... hate sessions where Grith is little more use than a target. <Randolph> You hit the guy, what are you complaining about <Devo> I'm going Cleric with my next character! <Devo> No more of this level drain shit! <Ian> Hunter of the Dead~ <Devo> What Ian said! <Randolph> Heh. <Randolph> With your luck, it'll be all Illithids. <Devo> ... <Devo> You mean, with my DM~ <Randolph> Please. I'd send Alhoons. <Devo> I take it level drain doesn't always offer a save~ <Randolph> (Undead illithiliches) <Randolph> Level Drain usually never offers a save <Devo> Oh, just send Tiamat and make it quick. <Randolph> The save is 24 hours later, when you save to see if it's permanent <Randolph> I think the only level drains with saves are the spells <Devo> I forgot to Psionic Weapon. Again. <Randolph> Put a sticky note on your sheet? <Randolph> I'd remind you but I have a lot of stats to memorize :P <Devo> I have to learn somehow.
